Pandemic Unemployment Two jobs, Furloughed from one.

By Terry Savage on May 21, 2020 | Wild Card

I am a single mother with one child, I am the sole support for myself and my daughter. I have worked at two jobs, and receive W2’s from both of them. I have worked for both employers for 20 years. I purchased a home last year and need both salaries to cover my expenses. I have recently been furloughed from one of the jobs, can I qualify for unemployment? I earn approximately the same amount of money from both jobs. Thank you for any advice you can provide.

Terry Says

Yes, you can definitely file for unemployment based on the loss of income from that job. It may take a while and you’ll have to jump through some hoops, but once you get it, the payment will be backdated to the date of job loss. And then, fingers crossed, maybe we will come through this and you will be re-hired!
