Student loans

What interest rate are these kids paying. I enjoy your columns and tonight I listened to to you on WGN radio.
What a treat. Take care. Mike

Terry Says

You won’t believe this, but most of the people who are still paying on loans are at least 10 years out of college, which means many of them are still paying 7-8% or higher on their loans. Student loan rates are fixed for the life of the loan. And if you do a one-time refinancing, you lose many of the benefits of income-based retirement plans. Student loans are the “roach motel” of personal finance!!
