Economic impact payment #no3

By Terry Savage on June 20, 2021 | Wild Card

Hi Terry! I was looking for answers as to why I still have not received my 3rd stimulus payment and I came across some information where you were explaining how one should go about to get a payment trace issued for stimulus payment. So I wanted to see if you would be able to help me figure out what to do about my situation. I have read on other forums that there’s quite a few people out there in a similar position. I originally had a DD date for march 27th of 2021 but the problem was, it wasn’t my account. After doing some searching I found out it was the account number to the TurboTax debit card I had received the previous year 2020 for my tax return. I didn’t know what to do … even though the IRS said do not call I still called and tried to get someone to help me but I had no luck with that. After about 3 weeks to a month passed I received a letter stating they tried to DD my payment but the banking info was wrong/,closed account. Get my payment was then showing “need more information” which was saying I am eligible and gave me the option to put banking info in. At that time I did not have a bank account but was told I could use my cash app account since I have a routing and account number. Get my payment accepted the info and has since been saying “you are eligible for the payment as soon as we have your payment date we will update this page”. I have been getting that message for over 2 months now. I have received 3 letters from the IRS …one stating how much my payment would be and that it will be direct deposited. It says also if I haven’t received my payment 7 days after getting that letter that I should contact the IRS …I did that. I got no where with that. The strange thing about it is I received the first 2 stimulus payments by mail (paper check) and do not understand why or how this happened. If there’s any advice or help you could offer I would so very much appreciate it. So sorry for the long winded message. Thank you

The good news is they know who you are! The bad news is that you are “caught” in the very slow wheels of the IRS. I am going to suggest, based on what you have written, that you wait until August 1st — and then write back to me if you still do not have the money.
My first question was why on earth you didn’t open a bank account — free checking is everywhere these days — and get organized to receive the payment?!! That would have made it much easier for the IRS to get your money to you.
And, keep this in mind: If you still don’t get it by the end of the year, you can file a tax return next April (even without any income) and claim the $1400 as a refundable credit. By then you MUST have a bank account to get it direct deposited!!!
