ROTH IRA investments
Good Morning, I listen to you on WGN radio and enjoy your expertise. My question is this: I’m opening my first ROTH IRA with Charles Schwab, I am a single 53 year old woman and am inexperienced with exactly what to put the money in? I don’t know what type of stocks/bonds to pick once I have the money in the account. Can you give me suggestions? Thank you so much Terry!
Terry Says
Absolutely. Just ask them to put your contributions in the S&P 500 stock index fund. Period. Keep adding to that same fund. And don’t stop adding just because the market might decline sometime in the future. Your regular contribution amount will buy more shares at lower prices. If America works, this strategy will work. YOu don’t have to beat the market; this allows you to BE the market — a winning proposition over every single 20-year period going back 100 years!
