Medigap shopping
Hubby died and I lost health coverage from his retirement plan so I have a 60 day special enrollment period in which to purchase a Medigap policy. I’ve analyzed 20 years of medicare billing for mom and hubby. The policies pay very little so I do not want an expensive one. F is more then G. N is almost identical to the plan provided with hubby’s retirement. Since all companies who sell a given plan, eg G, offer exactly the same coverage, why not just select the least expensive plan G? As long as a provider accepts Medicare assignment, a broker told me it doesn’t matter what company the supplement is with. Is this true? Should I just go with the least expensive issue age or community priced supplement? I hope to avoid the problem ny mother experienced with Anthem of Indiana 20 years ago. At 65 her premium was about $125/mo. By age 85, her premium was up to $800./mo so she just stopped paying. During the 20 years, she used the insurance only once, for a detached retina. Their payout was very small compared to her 20 years of premiums. Thanks a lot!

Stop looking back to ancient times. You want Plan F — the best supplement. And you can only get it NOW, when you sign up! Go to www.Medicare.gov and sign up for plan F, as well as Part D — the prescription drugs you will need.
Or go to www.EhealthInsurance.com and talk to one of their specialists.
Do NOT get suckered into Medicare “C” or Medicare Advantage, because of cheap rates or even zero costs. If you get sick, you’ll be sorry. They only allow certain providers, and have strict limits on who you can see!
