Medicare Advantage vs Traditional
This is such a problem. I’m currently covered by a Medicare Advantage plan. Monthly premiums are $39/month and it includes dental, vision and medical supplies up to $90 a quarter. If I switch to BCBS traditional, it will cost me $180/month and doesn’t include any of those other plans.
I’m afraid of my claims being denied if I get seriously ill, but look at the amount I’d be paying ($180/ month premium, maybe around another $100/month for vision and dental? Plus my own supplies)
Then I got an email from Congressman Ro Khanna, asking for signatures on a petition to Save Medicare/put an end to Medicare Advantage.
So hard to decide if I should gamble on not getting too sick
What hope is there for us?

We will just have to see what happens. I’m amazed that a Congressman took the time to understand the disadvantages of Advantage! (Maybe he read my column.) And I certainly understand the cost problem for seniors on limited income. My dad made it through with an Advantage plan that used all his VA doctors. And I’m hoping that you’re in a good plan that will be reasonable in allowing needed care down the road.
Don’t stay up at night worrying if you can’t afford the more expensive supplement Just try to enjoy the healthy times!
