Medical Student & Student Loans

By Terry Savage on December 14, 2023 | College Savings / Student Loans

My daughter is a 2nd year medical student & accruing loans at a terrifying clip. She recently heard about a SAVE Program “loophole” as Direct Plus loans accumulate interest while in-school. But with the SAVE repayment plan, interest does NOT accumulate during repayment. And if one doesn’t have income, loan payments under SAVE are not required. Because of this, no loan payments due, and no interest would accumulate. Since interest rates are over 8% this could lead to a lot of savings. This seems too good to be true so I am trying to find out if this is legit and/or a good or terrible idea.
