SS FAIRNESS ACT AND SOCIAL SECURITY QUESTION

By Terry Savage on March 09, 2025 | Social Security

I love to listen to your incredible advise on WGN Radio and I thank you for your thoughtfulness to share this information! I am a retired 68 year old IL teacher with an August Birthday. I worked in the private sector and received my 40 quarters. Should I still wait until I turn 70 to apply for social security and the SS Fairness Act benefits? Warm regards,

Terry Says

Yes, you’ll receive a higher base pay for life — on top of which future inflation adjustments will be made. So be sure to wait until you turn 70, assuming you have other income/assets to live on til then.
