Social Security

Hit Terry!
I heard you discussing social security with John Williams last week. You said that a divorced person has to have been married for 10 years to collect after the former spouse has passed. Do these 10 years need to be consecutive? If I were married 9 1/2 years and then remarried for another year will it count?
Thank you!

Terry Says

The way I read the law, that adds up to 10 years! Go ahead and try to collect. And let me know what happens! But wait till you’re at least 62.
