Social Security Application
Hi Terry – I applied for SS and sent my application in on January 15, 2025, with a start date of April, 2025. They said that processing should take 30 days. When I check the SS website, it says that they are on step 2 of 3. I haven’t heard anything from them, but did receive a letter saying that I am eligible to start receiving benefits. Does this sound right to you and is there anything I can do on my end to help this situation?

They do pay one month in arrears, so your first check should arrive in May. Write back if that doesn’t happen.
