F/U WEP/GPO Question
Terry, as a retired teacher I Luv your very informative Sunday articles 😍. I know you said ‘ Wait until May for your WEP lump sum payment’, but for the past 2 months Soc Sec has stopped pulling my owed $36/mo Medicare payments from my bank account. Question: Is it possible they’ll NOT send me a lump sum and just continue pulling this small monthly sum from my bank account until they reach the full owed sum? Weird.

Well, has your monthly SS benefit deposit actually increased by more than that $36? Have you heard from them about the amount of your monthly benefit, without the WEP reduction? That could account for the difference — a larger deposit, minus the full Medicare deduction.
In this case, I’d suggest creating a “mySocialSecurity” account so you can see what’s happening. You surely want to make sure your full Medicare premium is being paid. And calling to ask can take forever.
