Ask Terry Questions 401k investment choices

401k investment choices

By Terry Savage on March 14, 2025 | Investments

Hi Terry, I am going to be 49 this year and concerned about the possibility of a recession. The last couple of days the stock market has been down. Should I move my 401k to a more conservative plan or just stay in my current plan which is somewhat aggressive? I continue to make deposits into my 401k at the highest level my company match. Thank you

Terry Says

You’re relatively young, and I do believe that we will get through a bear market if one comes. But that could be a painful time. So maybe move 25% of your investments inside your plan into a more conservative investment option. That will let you sleep better if a bear market comes!
