Brightstart

Terry, thank you for your critical advice. Listen to you on the John Williams show. Spoke to you recently on his show ref Brightstart. My daughters have been enrolled in Brightstart since birth. Oldest daughter is turning 17 this year and is currently a junior. Both girls have been enrolled in the aged based portfolios and we have done quite well I believe. But now the oldest is in the most conservative age index but we won’t start drawing from Brightstart for another 18 months and then 4 years of school. Should we do a bit more aggressive and invest in funds like 50-50. Do not want the value of our savings to decrease due to inflation. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Have a great day.

As I write this, the stock market is at all-time highs! If you had asked me this question 6 months ago — about the 17 year old–I would have told you to move to the most conservative allocation (less stock market!). That’s not about “timing” the stockmarket — but about taking risk with money that’s needed soon.

The biggest worry about loss in a college fund is NOT inflation in the next three years; it’s about a stock market decline. Who knows? And why risk it a this point?!!
