Chase closing credit card for non-use

By Terry Savage on September 22, 2024 | Credit/Debt

Chase wants to close my 2 visa accounts because i have not used them in 2 years. Total available credit of $ 10,000. I have 5 other cards(one Visa with $10,000 )with total 27,000 available. I have no debt and i prefer to shop with my ‘socially responsible’ cards. Will it hurt to let Chase close my accounts?

Terry Says

It will only hurt your credit score if these are your “longest held” cards. That’s a key factor in your score — longevity of credit card history. So get a copy of one credit report at www.AnnualCreditReport.com or get your score at CreditKarma.com (all free) and check to see how long these cards have been opened. It’s worth keeping –and using — at least the longest-held card.
