children Investing

In your 8/10/202 article you were high on Stockpile. They now charge a $5 monthly fee. I want to give my 13 and 16 year old grandkids $500 each to invest and obtain an interest in investing. Do you have a current recommendation for an appropriate investment company? (I have 90% of my investments in Vanguard and am considering them as an option.)

Yes, it was a sad day when Stockpile raised its prices!

Fidelity has this interesting option: Fidelity Youth

And Schwab has this: https://www.schwabmoneywise.com/teaching-kids/investment-accounts-for-kids

Of course, these will be custodial accounts. And you know those weigh heavily against you in the FAFSA financial aid formula.
