Extra $300 or $400 unemployment for Illinois
Dear Terry – I heard 13 states have implemented Trump’s executive order to give $300 a week to unemployed Americans. I live in Illinois and am wondering why it isn’t implemented in all states and when it will be?

I’ve written about this before. This is a stop-gap measure announced out of Disaster Emergency funds, that requires a sharing of payments between Federal govt and states.
Here is an update on the program. According to the latest numbers 30 states have applied.

There have been various estimates on how long this money will last. The benefits would be disbursed from the Disaster Relief Fund (DRF), which received a $45 billion infusion from the Cares Act.
The Lost Wages Assistance program would continue paying benefits until:
It disbursed $44 billion, or,
The DRF balance reaches $25 billion, or,
The end of the program, which runs through December 6th.
AND, the program requires that state unemployment departments completely reconfigure their systems — that in the midst of the ongoing disaster at the Illinois Dept of Employment Security.
I have not heard any statements from the Governor’s office about when Illinois will apply (or if it has applied) for this program.
