Getting another persons name off a credit statement

By Terry Savage on April 07, 2025 | Credit/Debt

I recently found another’s person name on letter from Target. My son’s name was the primary person on my card. I called them and asked for them to remove it . I was told they couldn’t do that. I was told he would have to close the account and if we did that he would have a negative result on his credit score. His name was not there when I 1st got the card. Help.

So is this YOUR card? If so, it would be interesting to see how your son’s name got on it. (I hope I’m reading your question correctly.) Or was your son the primary cardholder — and someone else’s name was on it?
Either way, it makes sense to close the account immediately. But first, check his/your credit report to make sure no one is mis-using your credit.
