Call 800-388-2227 — the National Foundation for Credit Counseling. It will connect you to the nearest local agency. In Chicago you probably will reach Money Management, Inc. They are a national non-profit and you can trust their advice. They can help you over the phone. And they may work out a payment program, where they contact your creditors and ask for reduced rates, etc. Talk with them, no obligation. And do it right away!
