Ask Terry Questions IRS STIMULUS POSSIBLE FRAUD

IRS STIMULUS POSSIBLE FRAUD

By Terry Savage on June 08, 2021 | Wild Card

Terry,

I am usually very careful what I open and fill out before sending. I opened an email that looked authentic from IRS regarding next stimulus payment. Gave SS# address birthdate, phone #. Now I’m worried that this might have been a scam email as it went to another of my email accounts that I don’t use for IRS. DO I need to freeze anything to stop any fraud? HELP!

Terry Says

Yes, you DO need to do everything on this list — IMMEDIATELY!
That includes links to freeze all your credit reports and to check for any attempts to take out loans in your name!
The IRS never sends emails asking for your private information.
