Ask Terry Questions medicare — switching back

medicare — switching back

By Terry Savage on October 23, 2023 | Insurance & Annuities

I went on Medicare at end of 2016 with Mutual of Omaha with silver scripts. I was on that plan until 2019.
Jan 2020 I transferred to AARP Medicare Advantage drug plan included. Last January I had colonoscopy & the Doctor’s office said could not do at hospital only at surgi-center.
When the doctor’s office called about the surgi/center I asked if this was typical & she said yes for Advantage plans. My concern is Advantage plan good for the future & if it is advised to go back, can I go back to Medicare with a AARP Medicare supplement plan. Or is one on the Advantage plan the rest of your life!!!!!!!!

Terry Says

No, it’s not for the rest of your life. And if you want a doctor to control your healthcare instead of a plan administrator, this is the time to switch back to Original Medicare plus a supplement, and part D for drugs. Open Enrollment runs from now until December 15th. Go to www.Medicare.gov to apply for a supplement and Part D when you switch back to Original Medicare.
