Social security survivor benefits
I receive a pension from the teachers retirement system. I know I cannot receive my own social security. My husband passed away last month. Can I receive his social security benefit? I have a scheduled phone call later this month with social security and want to be prepared!

If you earned enough SS credits, you can now qualify for an unreduced SS benefit. But your spousal benefit might be larger. Go to www.MaximizeMySocialSecurity.com to figure out exactly what you should receiving now that your spousal benefit will not be reduced by the pension offset.
